Internal seminar on the role of trade unions - 30/11/2011

Vigeo has organized on November 30th an internal training for its analysts and auditors on ‘the place and role of trade unions in the corporate social responsibility’. The speakers were Elisabeth Carpentier (Sodexo), Jacques Kheliff (Rhodia), Jean Lapeyre (Syndex), Marie-Noelle Lopez (Planet Labor), Ron Oswald (UITA) and Kemal Özkan (ICEM).

This training day has enabled Vigeo’s staff to better understand regional and international trade unions’ activities and to examine  modalities and perspectives of transnational social dialogue in multinational companies under Vigeo’s review. Ron Oswald (UITA) and Kemal Özkan (ICEM) have presented the progress and issues at which one should be careful in the evaluation of international framework agreements. Business leaders, Ms. Carpentier for Sodexo and Mr. Kheliff for Rhodia-Solvay, presented conditions under which firms located in different geographical and social contexts strive to ensure the effectiveness of their engagements at corporate level regarding the respect for human rights standards and the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining. Marie-Noelle Lopez (Planet Labour) presented a comprehensive overview of the differences between the US and Europe regarding the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining.
